Eligibility Criteria for Paramedical Posts

Candidates must possess the minimum educational qualifications as specified for each post. For Nursing Superintendent, a Registered Nurse & Midwife (3-yr GNM course) or B.Sc. Nursing is required. Dialysis Technicians need a B.Sc. plus a Diploma in Haemodialysis or 2 years of experience. Health & Malaria Inspector Gr II requires a B.Sc. (Chemistry) with a 1-year Diploma/NTC in Health/Sanitary Inspector. Audiologist & Speech Therapists must have a BASLP degree and be registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India. Pharmacists (Entry Grade) need a B.Pharm or Pharm.D, registered under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. Radiographer X-Ray Technicians require 10+2 (PCM/PCB) with a 2-year Diploma in Radiography/X-Ray Technology or an equivalent B.Sc. ECG Technicians need 10+2/Graduation in Science plus a Certificate/Diploma in ECG/Cardiology Technology. Optometrists require a B.Sc. Optometry or a 3-4 year Diploma in Ophthalmic Technician, registered with the concerned council. Lab Assistant Gr. II requires 12th (Science) with a minimum 1-year Diploma/Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or a B.Sc. MLT. Candidates awaiting final results of their prescribed qualification are not eligible to apply. Specific details on alternate qualifications and PwBD suitability are available in Annexure A of the official CEN.

Age Limit & Relaxation

The age limit for candidates is reckoned as on 01.01.2027. The minimum age is 18 years for most posts, while the maximum age varies between 30 to 40 years depending on the specific post. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government rules: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years, PwBD (UR/EWS) candidates get 10 years, PwBD (OBC-NCL) candidates get 13 years, and PwBD (SC/ST) candidates get 15 years. Ex-Servicemen are eligible for relaxation of 3 years (after deducting service length) for UR/EWS, 6 years for OBC-NCL, and 8 years for SC/ST. Relaxations are not cumulative; candidates eligible on multiple grounds will receive the maximum applicable relaxation. SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates applying against UR vacancies will not be granted age relaxation.

Application Fee

All candidates other than those in the reserved categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹500. Out of this, ₹400 will be refunded (minus bank charges) to candidates who appear for the Computer Based Test (CBT). Candidates belonging to SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBD / Female / Transgender / Minorities / EBC categories need to pay a fee of ₹250. This entire amount of ₹250 will be refunded (minus bank charges) to candidates who appear for the CBT. The fee must be paid online only through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. Refunds will be credited only to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account and only for those candidates who attend the CBT.

Salary & Pay Scale

The salary for the recruited paramedical staff will be as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) recommendations, ranging from Pay Level 3 to Pay Level 7. For instance, Nursing Superintendents will be placed at Level 7 with an initial pay of ₹44,900. Other posts like Dialysis Technician, Health & Malaria Inspector Gr II, and Audiologist & Speech Therapist will be at Level 6 with an initial pay of ₹35,400. Pharmacist (Entry Grade) and Radiographer X-Ray Technician will be at Level 5 with an initial pay of ₹29,200. ECG Technician and Optometrist will be at Level 4 with an initial pay of ₹25,500, and Lab Assistant Gr. II will have an initial pay of ₹21,700.

Selection Process

The selection process for these paramedical posts will consist of a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination (ME). The CBT will be objective, multiple-choice, and will have a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each incorrect answer. The test will comprise 100 questions carrying 100 marks, divided into Professional Ability (70 marks), General Awareness (10 marks), General Arithmetic, Intelligence & Reasoning (10 marks), and General Science (10 marks). The duration of the CBT will be 90 minutes, extended to 120 minutes for PwBD candidates eligible for scribe assistance. Minimum qualifying marks for the CBT are 40% for UR/EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL & SC, and 25% for ST. These marks may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates if vacancies remain unfilled. Based on CBT merit, candidates equal to the number of vacancies (1:1 ratio, RRB-wise) will be called for Document Verification. This will be followed by a Medical Examination as per the prescribed medical standards (B1/C1/C2). Final empanelment will be based on the CBT merit, subject to successful DV and medical fitness.

Candidates need to create an account using a valid personal mobile number and email ID, which cannot be changed later. It is recommended to authenticate identity via DigiLocker/Aadhaar for smoother verification. Candidates must choose only one RRB and indicate their preference for posts/Railway Zones within that RRB. A live photograph must be captured via webcam/phone camera as instructed; pre-existing photo uploads are not permitted. Signatures (JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB) and SC/ST certificates (if applicable, PDF under 400 KB) must be uploaded. Candidates can choose their CBT medium from English, Hindi, or one of 13 regional languages. The examination fee must be paid online. A modification window will be available from October 17 to October 26, 2026, with a fee of ₹250, for corrections other than account details or the chosen RRB. Multiple applications to different RRBs or more than one application to the same RRB will lead to rejection and debarment.
